Pope Francis called this year (December 8, 2015 – November 20, 2016) as the year of the mercy. I would like to talk to you about mercy, not because of Pope Francis, but because of the actual situation in our world, in the world of consumerism, in the world where it’ s very difficult to find mercy.

But what actually mercy is? It’ s interesting to take a look at what Pope Francis told us about the Mercy:

“Where the Lord is there is mercy” and “As we approach the Year of Mercy, let us pray the Lord to help us understand his heart, to understand what ‘mercy’ means, what it means when He says: ‘I want mercy, not sacrifice!’” he said consultation 16.11.2015.

In fact, the Christian God is the God of Mercy. Jesus Christ himself is an expression of mercy and love. He expresses mercy and love towards the nations and he gives the example to us the Christians to do in the same way. Ps 145,9 The LORD is good to all; he has compassion on all he has made. Why? I think, that mercy and love are the most beautiful expressions of the human being.  The capacity of mercy, compassion, and charity do us better. And this is not surprising that the other religions and atheism also have a positive outlook toward mercy. The mercy can do from us the better person. For Christian, the mercy is very important not just because God is mercy, but also because with mercy we can approach to God. We open our hearts to mercy, toward the other person, but at the same time, we open our hearts to God. We become his child. We have a problem with mercy in the modern world, but humanity had this problem in all time. And we can observe the examples of the amazing mercy forward the people.

Many associations with different sponsors help people every day without even knowing them. And it’s the very beautiful representation of the mercy. The other example is mercy forward our friends, our families in difficulty. Despite the consumerism who affects our society, the mercy stays indispensable to be respected and accepted in the normal society. I just want to conclude with a wish of the mercy. I wish and I pray that all people find the mercy in their hearts because we all have the Mercy as it is written in the New Testament:  Lk 7,36 Be merciful, just as your Father is merciful.
